Published since 1969
Dora Harned created Crown Jewels of the Wire in March of 1969. Dora served as editor until May 1985.
Carol McDougald edited the publication from June 1985 through December 2002.
Howard Banks became the magazine’s third editor for the period of January 2003 through December 2018.
Raven Kotlarsky became the 4th editor of the magazine in January of 2019, the 50th anniversary of the magazine.
For 50 years Crown Jewels of the Wire has been the leading publication for glass and porcelain insulator hobby news, history, articles with columns devoted to worldwide insulators, show reports, in-depth research articles, meeting announcements, photos and other insulator information. There is something for everyone who enjoys insulators!
Starting with the Spring 2019 edition, Crown Jewels has become a full-sized, 8.5” x 11”, full color magazine that will be published quarterly.

All Insulators - Crown Jewels of the Wire Magazine has a wide variety of content for collectors of all types of insulators. We publish articles covering specific insulator-related topics in each quarterly issue, written by our regular contributors. We also have articles written by readers of the magazine!
Being a quarterly publication allows the contributors to create some amazingly rich, well-researched articles. It is like getting a new book on insulators four times a year rather than a newsletter.

On-Line Only: This will get you access to the Members only area of the site. This not only includes the latest edition of the magazine, but access to PDF back issues. More are being added all the time with the goal being to have all 50+ years worth available to Electronic subscribers.
Print and Electronic: This is the premium offering, you will get the print edition mailed to your door. You will also have access to the above mentioned archives. Another benefit is the Electronic edition is available 1-2 weeks before the print!
